Felix Maru
Runs the network, the roadmap and the partnerships. If you want to talk coverage expansion, wholesale or business deals, Felix is the first call.
Two founders. One mission: bring honest, reliable, locally-priced internet to the homes and small businesses in our coverage areas — without the runaround of bigger ISPs.
AlphaX started in 2021 with a single antenna on a rooftop in Umoja 1 — Felix pooling his savings to fund the first build, Timon joining as co-founder on the technical side. Both frustrated by the gap between what bigger ISPs promised in Eastlands and what they actually delivered.
Five years in, we're still small. Ten estates live, a few thousand subscribers, two founders who answer the phone. We've never raised outside money. We grow the network one node at a time, paid for by the customers already on it.
The bet has always been the same: people in Eastlands want internet that just works. Not the cheapest. Not the flashiest. The most reliable. With a real human at the other end when something goes wrong. Build that, and word travels block by block.
That's why we don't outsource support. Why we publish our real uptime. Why every plan is no-contract. Why our founders' phone numbers are on every page.
"Internet ya mtaa — built by the people on the block, for the people on the block."
If you ever feel us drifting from one of these, tell us. They're not posters on the wall — they're the things we say no to short-term wins for.
Real prices, real uptime numbers, real refund policy. No fine print. If we mess up, we say so and we fix it.
Everyone in our coverage zone deserves stable internet, whether they're paying KES 250/week or KES 22,000/month. Same network. Same care.
We measure ourselves on what stays up at 9pm on a Sunday, not what looks good in a brochure. Boring is good. Stable is everything.
AlphaX is not an outpost of a multinational. It's a Kenyan company founded and run by the two people whose names are on the door — on the ground, answering the phone.

Owns the stack end-to-end: routing, radios, RMA, and every ticket that lands in support. If something on your line is off, Timon and his team are who'll fix it.
We don't move fast and break things. We move steadily and keep things up. Here's the rough map.
Felix and Timon mount the first node in Umoja 1. A dozen subscribers in month one, mostly neighbors.
Two more towers, three estates on-net. Word of mouth pushes the subscriber count past 300.
Network expands south. First business customers (cafés, salons, M-Pesa shops) join. Support hires its first full-timer.
Three more nodes go live. M-Pesa STK push automation rolls out — goodbye Paybill reference-number mistakes. Subscribers cross 1,000.
10th estate goes on-net. AlphaX moves into a dedicated office. Customer portal v1 launches. Karibu Week and Jirani Bonus offers debut.
First nodes outside Nairobi approved: Mosoriot and Kapsabet (Q4). Five new Eastlands estates queued for Q3: Dandora, Embakasi, Kaloleni, Jericho, Makadara. The mission continues, block by block.
